Description
Natural Bread is an independent, family run artisan bakery based in Oxford. We make all our own wonderful breads, rolls & pastries by hand, from scratch, and fresh every day in our Botley bakery without using additives as many local ingredients where possible.
We use flour milled locally from Shipton Mill and eggs produced locally from Billy's Eggs. All of our hand-crafted, naturally leavened, sourdough breads are made from scratch, fresh every day in our Botley bakery and begin with the same 4 core ingredients.
We then use whole-wheat or other local flour types and add seeds and grains to then offer a wonderful variety of different sourdoughs.
While other bakeries use yeast to get their breads to rise, we use traditional slow fermentation techniques letting the sourdough starter do its job over 48 hours – this is what gives our sourdough bread its really rustic charm.
Alongside our breads, we are also proud to say that we make our own range of authentic, French-style pastries and viennoiserie by hand, from scratch and fresh every day in our Botley bakery.
We have a high quality, reliable and strong wholesale customer base in and around the Oxfordshire area, delivering seven days a week and continue to have a trusted presence at local, weekend farmers markets.
GFO Charter Pledge
We will continue to produce additive free, freshly baked, hand crafted sourdough and yeast leavened breads, as well as French pastries using locally milled flour and ingredients where possible to continue supporting the local farming industry.
Our environmental policy will be at the forefront of our business decisions, with regards keeping our carbon footprint low, providing plant based and recyclable packaging as well as closely monitoring our production and waste management system all whilst producing a high quality product for our customers.
We aim to raise local awareness about the importance of supporting locally made produce and truly knowing where your food comes from, how it has been made and exactly who made it. From the farm to the mill, to our bakery and to your table.
We are proud to be a local, independent business, small enough to make a change and sustainable enough to see the difference.
